Washington, D.C. – Representative Heath Shuler today released the following statement
regarding the loss of Medicare and Medicaid funding at Haywood Regional Medical
Center.
“Ensuring that patients in the care of our hospitals are receiving the highest level of care
possible is of the utmost importance to me. I am extremely concerned that Haywood
Regional Medical Center has been found to be, 'not in compliance with the conditions of
participation' in North Carolina's Medicare and Medicaid programs. I have already
contacted the Governor's office about this situation, and I will continue to monitor it
closely to ensure that patients are receiving the proper levels of care.”
