Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Heath Shuler released the following
statement on the Inauguration of President Barack Obama.
“I am hopeful that the inauguration of President Barack Obama marks the beginning of a
new era in American politics: an era that sees us move past the partisan bickering that
have marred recent decades to a renewed sense of community, compromise, and
cooperation. I also pray that the next four years brings a genuine commitment to the
protection of life at all its stages. We must all remember that we have a moral obligation
to help one another, especially the least among us. I am hopeful that throughout the next
four years we do just that.”
